Servings: 6 | Prep: 10 min | Cook Time: 20 min
INGREDIENTS
4 chicken sausage links, sliced
12 oz. (measured dry) Barilla protein pasta (cook according to directions, drain and set aside)
Bag of frozen broccoli
1 cup of milk
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
2 oz. Gouda cheese, shredded (or cheese of choice)
1 tbsp. Cornstarch
1/2 tsp. Pepper
1 tsp. Garlic powder
1 tsp. Oregano
This Creamy Cottage Cheese Sauce is literally the best sauce I have ever had!
DIRECTIONS
Sauté chicken sausage in a pan for 5-7 minutes. Set aside in a small bowl.
How to make the sauce; In a small blender add the milk, cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, cornstarch, pepper, garlic powder and oregano. Blend until well combined. Transfer to a saucepan and heat on medium, stirring frequently.
Add the shredded cheese to the sauce and stir until completely melted and combined.
Steam the frozen broccoli. Add the broccoli, cooked pasta and chicken sausage to the cream sauce. Stir until well combined.
Feel free to swap out the chicken sausage for a different protein (chicken, steak, shrimp, or salmon) or swap out the broccoli for a different vegetable (Brussels, asparagus, spinach, or mushrooms).
