Servings: 4 | Prep: 10 min | Cook Time: 25 min
INGREDIENTS
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. Salt
(Or 1 cup self-rising flour & 1 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt)1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (optional, additional for topping)
1 Jalapeño, sliced (innards removed)
Egg white, beaten
These Jalapeno Cheddar Bagels are a lower calorie, high protein version of a typical bagel and are delicious.
DIRECTIONS
In a medium bowl combine the flour, baking powder, salt and yogurt. Mix with a fork or spatula until well combined. Gently fold in the cheddar cheese. The dough might be sticky.
Lightly dust flour on a work surface and remove dough from the bowl, knead the dough a few times until dough is moldable.
Divide into 4 equal balls. Roll each ball into 3/4-inch-thick ropes and join the ends to form bagels.
Top with egg whitewash and sprinkle additional cheddar cheeee and Jalapeño slices. Bake at 375 degrees for 22-25 minutes. Let cool at least 10 minutes before cutting.
