Easy Beef & Broccoli

Makes: 4 | Prep: 10 min | Cook Time: 15 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound beef top sirloin, flank steak (thinly sliced across the grain)

  • 4 cups broccoli, cut into bite size pieces

  • 1 tbsp. olive oil divided

  • ⅔ cup soy sauce, low sodium

  • ½ cup warm water

  • 1 tbsp corn starch

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tbsp. sesame oil

  • 1 tsp. ground ginger

  • ½ tsp. pepper

  • Optional

    • sesame seeds

    • jasmine rice

 

This Easy Beef & Broccoli is a healthier rendition of your favorite Chinese takeout dish. A quick and easy meal made in less than 30 minutes with just a handful of ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry!

 

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, water, corn starch, brown sugar, minced garlic, sesame oil, ginger and pepper; set aside.

  2. Heat ½ tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add steak and cook, flipping once, until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Transfer the cooked meat to a clean plate. Set aside.

  3. Adjust the heat to medium. Add the remaining ½ tbsp of olive oil to the same pan the meat was cooking in. Add the broccoli to the pan. Cook the broccoli until tender crisp, about 3-4 minutes. Stirring frequently.

  4. Once the broccoli is crisp, add in the cooked meat and soy sauce mixture. Heat for about 3-4 minutes or until the sauce is slightly thickened. Remove from heat and serve!

  5. Top with sesame seeds and serve over rice.
